I am perpetually behind on posting pictures....this time I couldn't get the pics to download off the SD card the day I sat down to do it, which was actually right after we got home from our trip, but then one day turned into two....and then.....here we are....
These pictures are from our first trip to Salt Lake City (June 19th -ish), which we were concerned about taking because Ellie had never travelled that far, but she did GREAT!!!! She did wonderful at the hotel, she went swimming, to the zoo, to the aquarium, and to Temple Square! I think she had a blast...wouldn't you say!?!?
Yeah.....
About Me
- .
- Welcome to our blog!! This is a blog about our life, mostly from Jennifer's perspective. We were married in July 2007 at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas and then sealed together for eternity in the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple in June 2009. We welcomed Ms. Ellie Sophia into our lives on February 9, 2010 and she is absolutely the light of our lives. Then we added Silas Ian on January 4, 2013 and his smile just brightens our days. We live in Rio Rancho, New Mexico where Justin works as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and I pursue my PhD in Nursing while being a stay at home mom! Life is so chaotic but we really couldn't ask for a more perfect life!

Dear Ellie
You were dreamed of before you ever even knew
You were wanted before you ever even knew
Before you ever even knew what it meant to crawl, to talk, to roll around and play
You were loved before you ever even knew
Before you ever even knew what it meant to be kissed, held tight and have your tears wiped from your eyes
You are still a dream to us
You are still wanted and forever will be
You are loved our little ladybug.....

The Feud
Well before Ellie's birth Justin and I began shopping for items WE loved and therefore knew that SHE would love. One of these items was a lovely little lad by the name of Baby Tad. Baby Tad is one of those Leap Frog learning toys and it was an even better purchase because it was on sale. It was a $30 toy for $12 - SOLD!!
Fastforward.....Ellie is a few months old and she is introducted to Baby Tad. She is mildly intrigued by him. She looks at him from time to time, and eventually as her motor skills improve she is able to move enough to activate his many wonderful learning options. This I find to be rather impressive, but Ellie found it to be rather...ummm annoying. A few times she accidentally hit is foot only to hear, "Foot. I have a foot. I have two and so do you." When she'd hit his stomach she'd hear "5 minutes to Night Night..." accompanied by 5 minutes of bed time music as sung by an older woman's voice - not a sweet innocent baby tad voice (or so my imagination goes). She'd then proceed to yell and cry. She HATED HATES Baby Tad.
Fastforward....One month ago this feud escalated. We were in Utah and Ellie has a fascination with my phone, and so she was playing with it and I said to her, "You have a phone call - who is it?!?" and the conversation went something like this:
Ellie (via her dad): It's Baby Tad
Me: What does he say?
Ellie (via her dad): He is playing with all of my toys...eating all of my food....wearing all of my diapers....and wearing all of my clothes..he is sleeping in my crib...rocking in my lamb (swing)...and sitting in my Bumbo!!!
Me: What!?!? What are you going to do about it??
Ellie: He's going to get it when I get home!
A few days after we returned home Ellie did get her revenge...or so we think! One evening Baby Tad took a fall off of the shelf on which he was perched...this fall resulted in him "losing his voice" and no longer making any sounds. There were a few witnesses - Milos the monkey, Bear, Ollie the monkey, Ginger the half giraffe/half blanket, Ellie and Baby Tad himself. So far no one is speaking out....
The investigation is ongoing.....as is the feud....
(Which of these individuals would you trust??)

Dear Ellie:

Boy does time fly....I vowed that I would keep up the blog each week and I have failed miserably....it's now been almost a month. As I've said before - this is a quality you will soon learn that I possess to a fault.
In the past month you have grown so much and my heart if full.
* You crawl - crudely, but it still gets you places (and rather fast)!
* You sleep in your crib without one bit of objection
* Your smile lights up a room!!!
* You eat "food" without a problem - your favs: sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, peas, pears and oatmeal...oh and paper!
your not favs: bananas, apples, rice cereal, and carrots
* You have toys you LOVE (monkey keys, your multi-colored ball, the triangle thing that plays music when you shake it
* You have an archenemy - Baby Tad
* Personality: Charming, Stubborn, Inquisitive/Nosey, Loving, Joyful, "too smart for your own good"
* You've outgrown 2 BIG boxes of clothes, your lamb swing, your bouncer, and being held "like a baby"
* Biggest "Place" you've gone thus far: Salt Lake City
* Nap times: 10 am , 2 pm, 4 pm
* Sign that you are getting sleepy: The area around your eyebrows turns red
* Favorite blankie: Flower print one with your name embroidered on it
* You LOVE to go swimming
* You love to splash around in the bath tub
* Foods you've tried that are not doctor authorized: whip cream (+), sour cream (-), chicken broth (++), mashed potatoes (- -), bean juice (-)
* Fav sleeping position: on your belly with your little behind up in the air
* Big upcoming trips: SLC again!! Disneyland!! A cruise!?!
* Favorite song: The ABC's as sung by mom -- you also LOVE your primary song CD!!
* Nicknames: "Ladybug" "Lady" "Woman" "Ellie Belly" "E. Sophia" and "Bug"
I could go on and on about you....honestly.... I could...
I am, presently, sitting in your room in the rocking chair I use to rock you to sleep in (but you are far too wiggly for that anymore!) and I can hear you breathing as you nap......it's a beautiful sound. Life. You.
Yes, of you I approve.

Dear Ellie

In 2 days you will be 5 months old....5 MONTHS OLD!!! How did you get so big so fast? Where did the time go?

You are such an independent and happy little soul - you love to smile, you love to roll all over the floor, you love your little toys, you love taking naps with us, you love getting into everything, you love trying to get under the coffee table and the couch, and you love doing as much as you can on your own!! You sit in your high chair to eat, you love oatmeal and sweet potatoes, you tolerate apples/carrots/squash/and peas, you can almost sit up, you now sleep in your crib, and we can't wait to see what wonderful things you will do and become.
We are so blessed by you each day and so very much love you!! Life before you seems as a blur, and we often wish we would have had you a few years ago so our life then could have been filled with your beautiful smile, your infectious laugh, and your mere presence. We are so incredibly thankful for you each day and each moment - even the ones where you cry, get frustrated, or flat out cranky pants!! You are now our life and we wouldn't have it any other way!!
So Happy early 5 month Birthday ladybug!!!! Here is to an eternity of memories to come....
We love you!

I know no one cares what Justin and I have been up to SOOO I will skip it and just update the masses on Ms. Ellie. She has learned to do so many new things in just the past month - here are a few highlights:
Learning new things:

Resting

Having fun in my stroller

Sleeping in my crib

Learning to suck my thumb

Going out to eat

Holding my own bottle

Smiling

Going on a trip

Playing with my ball

Being silly with mom

Being happy!!!
