About Me

Welcome to our blog!! This is a blog about our life, mostly from Jennifer's perspective. We were married in July 2007 at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas and then sealed together for eternity in the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple in June 2009. We welcomed Ms. Ellie Sophia into our lives on February 9, 2010 and she is absolutely the light of our lives. Then we added Silas Ian on January 4, 2013 and his smile just brightens our days. We live in Rio Rancho, New Mexico where Justin works as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and I pursue my PhD in Nursing while being a stay at home mom! Life is so chaotic but we really couldn't ask for a more perfect life!

Soccer continues.......

We are back at it this weekend - The Cheetahs are back on the prowl (do cheetah's prowl??)....

I do know that Cheetah's don't like wearing mouth guards.....

Sitting with Coach Travis
Dada and Silas soaking up some fun in the sun
Team huddle
Listening to Coach Mo
After each game the kiddos get a snack.....a Capri Sun is a welcome component of the snack!
Uncle Jake and Aunt Jeni made it out to the game
Heading back to the car in our little red wagon

Silas likes coming along for the ride!

Although we have to get up early make it here it is worth it........

The Cheetahs!

Ellie's first soccer game of her career was today and we were, of course, running late!
The mouth guard we purchased for her did not end up working out and we had to buy another one here which added another stressor on top of it all.

After finally pulling it together we met her coaches - Coach Mo and Coach Travis.
She got her soccer jersey (#9)
She met her teammates and they decided on a name
The Cheetahs

Wee were concerned that she would not end up going out on the field because she has had some issues with separating from us. We thought soccer might be a good option because she could see us there and she was with a bunch of other kids just running around.

It was an absolute winner. She LOVED it!
She went out there on her own without hesitation or any tears.

Way to go Ellie-bo!

Soccer chick

Ellie decided that she wanted to play soccer. We headed out to day to buy her all the equipment she needed - shoes, socks, shorts, ball, shin guard and mouth piece! We signed her up through I9 sports which is a league for younger kids that promises that every kid plays.

She has a game coming up in a week and so we took her out to try on all of her stuff and to go over a few key points of soccer.

She didn't care so much about those key points but she did love wearing the soccer stuff.
Typical Ellie!

Posers

I decided to capture these crazy kooks for some pictures wearing
their Alabama shirts from our trip.....

None of them, naturally, came out ideal but they are cute nonetheless!

SLC or bust!!!

We made our annual trek to SLC, mainly to go to the BYU/Texas game. Our first stop was, of course, The Red Iguana!

Ellie and dada at Red Iguana

Silas and dada at Red Iguana

Following our lunch outing we headed to the outlet mall

Then hit up Moochie's for dinner
Driving with dada at Moochie's (notice Ellie's new Utah Utes cheerleader bear)

We headed out the the Utah State Fair which was a blast...
so much so that we ended up going two nights in a row!

The day of the game we headed out to Thanksgiving Point Farm
where Ellie got to ride the ponies

Then to Thanksgiving Point Natural History Museum to check out the dinosaurs.

We also got to check out this bad boy Megalodon!
Which had Ellie VERY scared!!!

Finally it was time for the game!

As you can see in the background...some ominous weather was approaching
Soon after this picture the rain started pouring like I've never seen before and we were forced to take cover inside the stadium. During this time mass chaos ensued and Justin and I were separated. I had Ellie and Justin had Silas. Thousands of people were crammed inside the interior of the stadium which was a bit scary. Finally I figured out that Justin and I were on different levels of the stadium so Ellie and I pressed through the crowds and found Justin hiding out by a little almond stand. The man running the almond stand was kind enough to let Justin and Silas hide out there to avoid the weather (the level they were on was somewhat open to the exterior).

We waited for several hours before the game resumed. The rain and lightening was so intense that we could not walk back to the car to leave. So we just had to wait, which was not a fun thing to do with two little kids who just wanted to be on the move and couldn't understand what was going on.

We did stay for the game -- UT lost ---- and left with a bunch of new rain gear (we had - along with thousands of other people - hit  up the BYU apparel store to get coats, ponchos, and blankets) and a pretty memorable story!

After our Craaazy day we decided to keep it low key with a visit to the Children's museum

Green chile time!

On recommendation of one of Justin's co-workers we headed to Wagner Farms to get some roasted green chile.

Waiting for it to be roasted...I wish you could smell this stuff through these pictures!

Here is what we ended up leaving with....

We headed home and had to peel and bag all of this stuff.....Our hands and eyes were burning (even through our gloves) but we knew that it meant we would have a great hot batch to cook with! After several hours of peeling and bagging we abandoned ship -we just bagged it unpeeled and then we just starting giving the darn stuff away!

I think we over did it on the size of chile we ordered but we are still green chile novices -

Until next year!
