Movie date with dada!!

Today Ellie and dada went to the movies together.
Ellie had been wanting to see Monsters University and so dada caved and took her.

Unfortunately, she and dada arrived home shortly thereafter because she said the movie was loud and scary. Dada was sad because he wanted to see how it ended!!

How quickly the excitement ends!

Piano man

There is always a new baby toy out there. Always

We succumbed to the pressure and purchased this baby mat with a piano.
What were we thinking?!?!

Here is Silas enjoying his belly time!

He is now sitting up (pretty well) on his own and banging playing the piano!

The piano has also attracted Ellie's attention.
For the record - she can bang on it harder and louder.

No one touches the piano man's piano. No one.

Just kidding. The piano man is chill.

As any good piano man should be!!

How does your garden grow.....

Ellie and I planted our annual garden a few weeks ago. It was exciting for us because our new house has a huge bona fide garden box!

We headed out to Lowe's and bought a ton of stuff to plant -- we  planted tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, cantaloupe, and some onions.

We haven't had good luck growing stuff in the past, but this year our garden absolutely EXPLODED!

It has become apparent to us that Ellie and Silas look just alike.....so we pulled up a picture of Ellie at the same age as Silas is for comparison.

I think the results are obvious!

Happy Father's Day!!

I was thinking for weeks what we could do that would be super special for Father's day this year. I thought of cool things we could buy, something we could make and came up with an idea of something we could do....

Boy, it was harder than I had thought!

Silas was dead set on just putting the paper in his mouth......

Ellie looks less than thrilled to participate in my project...

I can see she is tiring of this....

 But.....

All it paid off

Liberry....Library

Today I took Ellie to the local public library to get her first library card and the girl had an absolute blast! I could not get her to leave and we checked out the maximum number of books we possibly could!

My sweet Silas

Dear Silas,

You are now 5 months old. Time is flying.

You are have such a sweet way about you. I just want to drink you up, to breathe you in, and to memorize your every waking moment. Time will soon pass us by and you will no longer be a baby. You will grow into a toddler, a preschooler, an elementary student, a high schooler, a boyfriend, a college student, an adult, a career man a husband, a father, and a grandfather. As you progress through these stages in your life - your need for me will change and morph but I will always remain your mama.

I will forever want to drink you up, breathe you in and memorize your every waking moment. I will forever want to hold you in my arms and watch you sleep and dream. Forever my baby you'll be.

We love you to the moon and back.

Mama's birthday.....

Today is my birthday. I turned 34.
Ellie wanted to know why my cake only had 1 candle if I was so much older than that.

I'm not sure this delicious ice cream cake from Coldstone could have withstood the burning fire that 34 candles would have caused!!

I had a great birthday spent with the people I love the most AND I got this delicious cake -- what more could I ask for!!

It's a weekend for a swim.....

The weather is nice enough that we fired up the pool and were all set to swim! Of course, Ellie was absolutely beside herself. Silas was only thrilled to sit in the sun and take it all in!
