About Me

Welcome to our blog!! This is a blog about our life, mostly from Jennifer's perspective. We were married in July 2007 at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas and then sealed together for eternity in the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple in June 2009. We welcomed Ms. Ellie Sophia into our lives on February 9, 2010 and she is absolutely the light of our lives. Then we added Silas Ian on January 4, 2013 and his smile just brightens our days. We live in Rio Rancho, New Mexico where Justin works as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and I pursue my PhD in Nursing while being a stay at home mom! Life is so chaotic but we really couldn't ask for a more perfect life!

Congrats Dada!!

Justin will never brag on himself so I will do it for him: (1) He is graduating from the graduate program at the University of Utah in May 2012 (2) He applied to several Doctor of Nursing Practice programs and was accepted into ALL of them. The two choices have come down the the University of Alabama and Duke. The dilemma essentially comes down to going to Alabama (where we could reasonably pay out of pocket) or sell our souls to the Blue Devils......Coach K and I are now practically related!! Ellie and I are so proud of you!!!

Cruise part 3....

Our final stop was Cozumel, Mexico -- we have been here once before and snorkeled but this time we decided to head out to a local beach just to relax. We went to Playa Mia which was a beach park so it had a swimming pool which was much more up Ellie's alley. The beach itself was a little rocky and crowded.

Justin and Ellie got colds over the night and so he was feeling quite under the weather however Ellie was ready to swim and play!!

They also had a trampoline here which she loved however we did not get any pics of her on it :( This was her first time on a trampoline and so she was a bit apprehensive but she soon got over that and was a jumping machine!!

We then headed home, which is always a bittersweet part of the trip! She loved being with the Tornow kids and they were so kind, patient and gentle with her!

While waiting at the airport Ellie, Sage (aka Sour), Saxon, Brock (aka Broccoli) and Justin got to go sit in the cockpit of one of the planes. Super Cool!!

It was such a great trip and it has us ready for our next adventure!!

Cruise Continued.....

Next stop was Grand Cayman! We went with the Tornows on an excursion where we got to pet and feed stingrays as well as snorkel!

Ellie LOVED being in the water and riding the boat that took us out to the sandbar! Her favorite thing to say after this excursion was "I touch a stingray!"

Here is the Carnival Magic - view from our tender boat...

Look at this water!!!

The water was pretty tempestuous and strong so Justin got in the water with Ellie while I took pics since I wasn't tall enough to keep her from getting mouth fulls of salt water!

 "I touch a stingray!!"

"Hi Mama!"

She was completely wiped out after swimming so here she is getting ready for a nap (post shower!)  on her big girl bed! This was the first time she slept in a big girl bed on her own.....

But first.... a little milk on the balcony...

And one final cheesy grin :)

I LOVE this girl!!!

A 3 hour tour - A 3 hour tour...

So....we are a bit addicted to cruising and recently went on another fun filled cruise!! We headed out with the Tornows to the port at Galveston, TX for a 7 day Carnival cruise which took us to Jamaica, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman. This was the first time we officially had to by Ellie a seat on the plane so we were kind of stoked that we didn't have to worry and fret if someone was going to sit next to us. It was nice!

We sailed on the Carnival Magic which just a really beautiful (and brand new!) ship that had a ton of amenities for families (putt putt golf, children's camp, pools, water slides, movie nights, etc..). Also the food was delish! We would definitely cruise Carnival again!

Poor Ellie....on this cruise she got a cold and then we had to take her to the ship's medical center after she got a sprained elbow (from falling to the ground abruptly while we were holding her arm while walking). She had to see the ship's doctor, got 2 X-rays (or pictures of her arm - as she likes to say) an ace bandage and some ibuprofen and we got a $300 bill!!! However we had always been curious about the ship's medical center so it's kind of like we got an expensive tour of it.

We also attempted to take her to Camp Carnival so that she could play with the other kids (I think there were like 1200 kids on this cruise) in her age group instead of being cooped up with us. She did not appreciate this! The first time she ran in and began playing and running around ASAP - we then got a call 15 minutes later saying that she was crying and inconsolable. The next time I sat in with her and she eventually (30 minutes!) left my side and went to play -- I snuck out and watched her through the window. She was doing awesome -- 15 minutes later I got the call. We tried once more but she wouldn't even go in the door....can you say T-R-A-U-M-A-T-I-Z-E-D. She kept saying, "Mama come get you" any time I would leave...even to go to the restroom.

In spite of all of these happenings to her she still travelled like a champ!

First stop: Jamaica

We decided to do the city tour so that we could see the sights in the city and do a little shopping. It was a really cool tour and perfect for Ellie!  We drove through Montego Bay, stopped at a few shopping areas and then went to this cool flea market place where locals sold their carvings and crafts. It was pretty high pressure to buy but we made off with a few purchases for some pretty low prices.
