About Me

Welcome to our blog!! This is a blog about our life, mostly from Jennifer's perspective. We were married in July 2007 at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas and then sealed together for eternity in the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple in June 2009. We welcomed Ms. Ellie Sophia into our lives on February 9, 2010 and she is absolutely the light of our lives. Then we added Silas Ian on January 4, 2013 and his smile just brightens our days. We live in Rio Rancho, New Mexico where Justin works as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and I pursue my PhD in Nursing while being a stay at home mom! Life is so chaotic but we really couldn't ask for a more perfect life!

Holding my own - 14 weeks

At 14 weeks you are already accomplishing so much:

You are growing oh so much - but still not bigger than your dad's shoe:

You are getting closer and closer to the big day when you CRAWL!! Also you now roll over front-back and back-front!!

You even started holding your own bottle!! You know that you need to tip it to get more milk out AND you can put it in your hands and make it to your mouth!!

You are growing waaaay tooo fast ladybug!!

Brushing my Gums!!!

Ellie,

Your dad has been looking forward to this day since before you were born and finally it arrived......

....and it looks like you don't mind brushing!!

Nursing School Friends

We found out we were pregnant in May of 2009 and we were right in the middle of nursing school. Ellie has pretty much gone through nursing school with us and she made a few friends along the way! Here are a few that we got pics with during our graduation picnic!!

Blessing Day

Sunday we had Ellie's baby blessing and here are a few pics of our little family right before the big day!

Justin did such a great job with her blessing and prayed that she would be kind, generous, would surround herself with people who loved and cared for her, that she would find a worthy mate, that she'd grow and develop healthy, that her parents (us!) would lead her in the gospel and that she'd have all the blessings Heavenly Father has in store for her as she lives her life in obedience!

We love you ladybug, and you have blessed us beyond belief and we hope you have a life of blessings in return!

Down and Dirty........

We haven't been parents for long, but we have learned some valuable lessons regarding diapers and wipes. These valuable lessons have usually come the hard way!! Sooo...below are our review of diapers

Luvs:

GRADE: D-
PROS: They are cheaper than the other diapers
CONS: They aren't cheap enough to make it worth it, They are the small version of a hospital chucks pad, They leak
REVIEW: We gave this diaper various tries and each time we had a leak, a code brown, or a blow-out. Hands down worst diaper EVER!! In fact they were so bad we had another package and we simply returned them for a refund.

Pampers Swaddlers:

GRADE: A +
PROS: They smell great, are soft, and hold well
CONS: They are slightly pricier than some of the other diapers
REVIEW: This is my favorite diaper and I have found that it really does its job along with being kind to Ms. Ellie. Heck, I'd use these diapers!

Huggies Little Snugglers:

GRADE: A
PROS: They are soft, hold pretty good, and work well with a wiggling little one
CONS: A little pricey
REVIEW: These diapers are my second favorite - they don't get the A+ because they don't smell as good as the Pampers. However, the band around the legs are better equipped for a baby on the move.

Huggies Organic:

GRADE: A
PROS: Same as the regualar Huggies (SEE ABOVE)
CONS: They are more expensive than the regular huggies however you don't really get anything additional
REVIEW: These are simply the regular huggies in a fancy package - the diaper design is lighter than on the regular huggies giving the appearance that it is organic...I wouldn't spend the extra on these.

Parents Choice:

GRADE: B
PROS: Very affordable and they hold well
CONS: They are a little rough which we think may have not set well with Ellie's sensitive baby skin.
REVIEW: We got some of these for our baby shower and were reluctant to use them but decided "What the heck - let's give 'em a try!" and they were surprisingly good. They are a good value, and if your baby can wear them without the skin issue then give them a go!!!

Our Big girl: 3 months old

Our little ladybug is the BIG 3 months - it's so hard to believe that 3 months have passed since we welcomed you into our lives. This week you have started giggling, chatting up a storm, continuing to roll over with more ease, and I think that you are getting pretty near to crawling!!! You have also started drooling up a storm - welcoming those pearly whites!!

Here are a few pics from your 12th week in the world!
